Dear Colleagues,

in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) through mass gatherings and protect the health and safety of our conference speakers, attendees, and staff, BFR2021 is postponed for 2022. Please sign up to our mailing list below and you will be notified via email of the new dates.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Local Scientific Committee, and International Scientific Committee it is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Athens for the 10th International Symposium on Flame Retardants (BFR 2022) on April 11-14.

The year 2021 marks the 21th anniversary of the BFR Symposia. In 2001, Professor Ake Bergman organized the first symposium in Stockholm, Sweden. Over the past 20 years, there have been major advances in the analysis, fate and toxicity of these compounds. Revised flammability regulations and policies have changed the terrain. We saw the gradual phase out of the PBDEs and the introduction and dominance of replacement flame retardants, posing more challenges to the scientific community. The theme of BFR 2022 will be expanded beyond the usual topics and will include sessions on chlorinated paraffins, remediation/destruction technologies and fire safety.

We look forward to welcoming you to BFR 2022!
